Lucien’s Mermaid Event – Thoughts & Review

Hello! This post contains everything related to Lucien’s Mermaid event. At the beginning, you can find my translations, and at the end I’ll share my own thoughts about the event!

Let’s start with the date, since it makes the most sense chronologically. It includes Lucien and MC’s first meeting, while the daily mini-events take place later, after Lucien has already been freed from the water tank.

Date

You can also watch the video on YouTube, or if my pace feels too slow for your preference (sorry, I’m a slow reader lol), you can read the text version of the date instead.

Intro

Looking out at the boundless sea before me, I felt a surge of indescribable calm.

Soft footsteps sounded beside me. When I turned around, I met Lucien’s smiling gaze. His long hair draped loosely over his shoulders, and he reached out to brush aside the strands tousled by the sea breeze.

Lucien: Miss Researcher, what new experiment are you planning to conduct here?

Kasa: There’s so much~ For example, if you become a merman, the changes in your skeletal structure would put pressure on your nervous system… Or how your perception of the outside world might change depending on water temperature and environment, and so on.

Lucien: It sounds as though I’m about to be locked in a laboratory and used for experiments day and night.

Kasa: I would never do something like that! Even if I were to study you, I’d do it out here in the open sea—where the weather is pleasant, the view is vast, and nothing can restrain me.

Lucien: Why?

Kasa: That way, we could experience all sorts of things together… and I’d get to see you when you’re truly relaxed. Then, I could come to understand you little by little, okay?

Lucien’s gaze darkened slightly, and a faint smile touched his lips.

Lucien: I thought we already understood each other quite well. It seems you’re still not entirely satisfied with our relationship.

Kasa: You always say things like that just to tease me… I’m not falling for it anymore!

Lucien: But this time, I mean it.

As he spoke, as if to prove his point, he took hold of my wrist and led me into the cool seawater.

Lucien: Then let’s take this time to get to know each other even better.

Daily mini dialogues & diary entries

DAY 1

Kasa: Luckily, I brought some fish food with me this time. Look—the little fish around us are swimming in circles!

Lucien: This fish food has a well-balanced nutritional profile. Its formula is also quite suitable for marine fish.

Kasa: Lucien, I have a question that might be a bit impolite… This fish food wouldn’t attract you too, right?

Lucien: Of course not. I am still human at heart. I still prefer things suited to human needs—such as nutrient solutions prepared in a water tank.

Kasa: …Nutrient solutions don’t really sound like something that meets human needs either. Don’t worry, Lucien—I’ll take you to try some real food.

Lucien: Mm. I’ll be looking forward to it.

Kasa: But now I’m curious… What does your nutrient solution taste like? Do you… take it in while breathing?

Lucien: I wouldn’t recommend that you try it. But if you’re truly interested… how about we take a dip together today?

Research New Topics (Kasa’s Diary)

Now that I’ve finally “pulled” Lucien out of his water tank, I naturally want to record these days that feel so different from before. There are still so many things about him I don’t understand—so many questions I want to ask.

When he gazes off into the distance, what is he really looking at? And those ambiguous smiles… what is he trying to convey to me through them?

They say curiosity is the first step toward exploration, and inquiry the only path to truth. So I want to learn more about him—and discover what kind of person Lucien truly is.

…I never expected Lucien to notice that I was keeping a diary, and he seems quite interested in it. His observational skills are honestly terrifying. However, he also seems to have developed an interest in “writing a diary” himself. I wonder what he writes in it?

Will he also want to understand me—as more than just a “researcher”?

☆

A Different Perspective (Lucien’s Diary)

I noticed that she had begun jotting things down in a notebook, which she referred to as a “diary.” From her description, it seemed to be a more private—and rather interesting—form of “observation log.” Unfortunately, she refused to let me see its contents until the very end. A pity, as it would have been an excellent opportunity to understand her better.

That said, the way she blushed and hurriedly closed the notebook was even more endearing than I had imagined. Next time, I’ll have to find another way to make her show that expression again.

In the end, at her suggestion, I agreed to start writing a diary as well. Strictly speaking, there is little need for me to record daily events—I can remember everything with perfect clarity. But memory and writing are not the same. Memory is precise, yet inherently subjective; no matter how much time passes, it preserves events as they were perceived. Writing, however, allows one to revisit those same moments from a different perspective—and perhaps arrive at new interpretations.

For now, this is merely “a new attempt we made together.” But perhaps, someday, it will come to hold an entirely different meaning.

I find myself looking forward to the day I can look back on this moment through these words.

I wonder when she will discover my diary… and what she will think when she does.

DAY 2

Kasa: Lucien, look! That coral over there is so beautiful! I’ve never seen this color before… Could it be some kind of rare species?

Lucien: Then why not collect a sample and take it back to make a specimen? Whenever we come across something that interests us, we can take a sample. Perhaps, in the end, we could even create an “Ocean Atlas” that belongs to the two of us.

Kasa: (´∀`*) That sounds pretty romantic. Then this coral will be our first specimen!

Lucien: Should we give it a name?

Kasa: Wait—shouldn’t it already have a scientific name? Even if I don’t know it yet, I can look it up later.

Lucien: But since it belongs to our shared memories, shouldn’t it have a more special name?

Kasa: (*////A////*) Then… wouldn’t that mean we’d have to name every species that catches our interest?

Lucien: Wouldn’t that be better? In my view, you’re the one who led me to explore and perceive this world. So isn’t it only natural that we name everything ourselves?

Ecological Observation Sheet (Kasa’s Diary)

Today, in the spirit of seeking truth from facts, I boldly suggested remeasuring Lucien’s physical data. He agreed almost immediately. Throughout the process, he was very patient—even tilting his head slightly so I could touch his ear.

I finally found out what his tail feels like. It was a little cool to the touch, incredibly smooth, and more resilient than I had imagined. With a smile, he added, “Even if it’s not just for scientific purposes, it doesn’t matter.”

…He’s really getting better and better at teasing me.

But honestly, I can’t say I’m entirely without selfish motives either.

Seeing that his previously extreme values are gradually approaching a “healthy” range… can I assume that I’ve improved his quality of life? Can I hope to make him healthier—and help him experience more of the beauty of life?

Perhaps I’ll have a clearer answer the next time I measure his data.

PROFILE

Name: Lucien
Gender: Male

Body Measurements:

  • Height: 60 cm
  • Tail: 192 cm
  • Total Length: 252 cm
  • Shoulder Width: 52 cm
  • Chest: 103 cm
  • Waist: 75 cm
  • Hips: 93 cm

EVOL:
This individual has undergone experimental modification. A mermaid form has been successfully created, but no significant Evol abilities have been observed so far.

Food Preferences:
He shows a high tolerance for most foods. However, since he has been kept in a water tank for an extended period and has relied on nutrient solutions for survival, his sense of taste appears relatively dull. It’s difficult to say he has any clear “preferences” at this stage—he simply eats whatever is given to him.

I once added extremely spicy chili peppers to his food, and he still ate it. While he showed no obvious subjective reaction, there were measurable physiological changes, such as sweating, an increased heart rate, and a slight drop in blood pressure. …For now, I’ve decided to stick to milder foods.

Lifestyle Habits:
Although there has been some improvement, he is still far from what could be considered truly “healthy.” More training and physical conditioning are needed. However, whenever I bring this up, his expression becomes… somewhat subtle.

He has an exceptionally sharp mind and has already solved many bottlenecks and issues in the lab.

Recently, he seems to prefer leaving the water and experiencing the world as a human rather than remaining in his mermaid form. Whenever he touches objects, tastes food, or takes in the scenery, his expression softens in a way that’s… unexpectedly beautiful.

Does he not need sleep?! How can someone not sleep? Even mermaids need sleep!!

Other Notes:
After learning that researchers are paid, he smilingly asked me what his salary would be. How exactly am I supposed to pay him? In the end, I bought him new experimental equipment as his “salary”… but it was far too expensive. I regret it—I should have just paid him like a senior researcher instead… That said, the equipment has proven useful and can be applied to other projects as well, so it’s not a complete loss.

The lab’s financial report for this quarter is out. Lucien caused a total of four controllable research incidents and eight minor disturbances, damaging several instruments, pieces of equipment, and research materials. He’s way too expensive. I can’t afford to keep him.

P.S. Lucien found out about this and said that several of his research results earned high compensation—which could, in turn, support my lab… I forgive him. After that, I asked him to explain his research ideas to me, and I feel like I learned a lot from it.

Cognitive Updating (Lucien’s Diary)

Today, after the experiment, I cooperated with her movements so she could remeasure my physical data. My condition is better than I expected. Not only has my weight increased significantly, but my blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and other indicators are all much healthier than anticipated.

And yet, she still seems somewhat dissatisfied, murmuring things like, “I need to take better care of you.” I do not require anyone to feed me, nor am I an animal kept in a glass tank. However… if she were to say such things, I would find myself more curious about how she intends to “take care” of me afterward.

During the measurements, she touched my ears, my tail, my hands—many places—and she seemed particularly fond of my tail.

In truth, I could dive into the sea even now, find her a real mermaid, and help her fulfill her research—and perhaps her dreams. But for the time being, I have no intention of telling her that. Since she shows such fascination with mermaids—and such interest in my tail, and even my ears—then she may as well continue observing me a little longer. …At least until the day she still finds me unique, even without these differences.

DAY 3

Kasa: Okay, we’ve arrived at the place you mentioned. You said earlier there was something you really wanted to confirm—what was it? (*´・д・)?

Lucien: I was only joking. I just wanted to bring you out.

Kasa: Why?!

Lucien: Because this particular researcher threw herself into her work the moment she returned to the lab yesterday. It seems you haven’t slept at all since then. If humans never sleep, they’ll become little fools.

Kasa: But you barely sleep either!

Lucien: Those are two different matters. And after everything I just said, you chose to focus only on the last sentence to argue back. That suggests your attention is already starting to drift.

Kasa: Wait a second… I think you’re just making excuses…

Lucien: Shh… Now that you’re out here with me, you should get some rest first. Look—aren’t the waves especially gentle today?

Kasa: That’s true…

Lucien: Sleep well, Miss Researcher. I’ll stay by your side.

Kasa: Good night… zzz…

Lucien: Good night. Sweet dreams.

A High-End Way to Rest (Kasa’s Diary)

Lucien’s idea of “relaxing” was a bit beyond my expectations… but somehow, it also made perfect sense.

While I was floating leisurely in the water, resting against the bubbles he had made for me, Lucien was actually using even smaller bubbles to construct molecular formulas.

When I asked what he was doing, he told me that back when he was in the tank, he had no experiments to run and no books to read. He often felt bored and had to find ways to entertain himself. For example, he would mentally reconstruct mathematical theories he had heard, simulate research models based on incomplete information—or, like now, build things out of bubbles. As he spoke, he even created a miniature model of my lab using bubbles.

Lucien is even more “talented” than I imagined. But I feel like only Lucien could do something like that. No matter how bored I got, I definitely couldn’t derive entire theories and hypotheses on my own like he can.

The difference in how people experience boredom is truly enormous…

In Sight, Beyond Cognition (Lucien’s Diary)

Today, we went to the market together. On the way back, the sunlight was especially bright, so we ended up diving into the sea.

Every day spent with her brings new discoveries—new ways of understanding the world. The world she once described to me again and again from beyond the glass is now gradually becoming clear before my eyes. The words she used are no longer abstract concepts or distant messages. They have become tangible—something I can perceive, approach, and understand.

An apple is no longer merely a “nutritious and rare fruit.” It is red, carries a fresh fragrance, and feels crisp to the touch, with a balance of sweetness and acidity. And when she places it in my hand, I can still feel the lingering warmth of her body.

Rain is no longer just condensed moisture in the atmosphere. It is cool, carrying a different kind of dampness and scent than the sea. It dampens her hair, traces the lines of her form, and leaves a faint sheen along her jaw—as if waiting for me to reach out and brush it away.

She is warm. Gentle. At times fragile, yet remarkably strong. She is full of color—and she transforms those colors into taste, touch, and scent, bringing them to me. The world has never felt so vivid—nor so beautiful.

☆☆

DAY 4

Kasa: Lucien? Lucien—

Lucien: I’m here. What’s wrong?

Kasa: I’ve been calling you forever—I thought you disappeared again! <(`^´)>

Lucien: You seem particularly concerned about my “presence.”

Kasa: Of course! You’re a habitual liar who sneaks off all the time! Naturally, I have to stay on high alert to stop you from disappearing again.

Lucien: Then how can I improve my “reputation score”?

Kasa: Let me think… First of all, don’t wander too far from me.

Lucien: That I can do. After all, our rooms aren’t very far apart.

Kasa: Secondly, don’t deliberately hide information.

Lucien: Do you want me to tell you everything I know?

Kasa: Basically… yes, that sounds about right.

Lucien: I see. Then let me start with this—before returning, I went to the beach. When I was there with you before, I noticed the seashells were a pale purple, the same color as my tail. So I picked some up for you… because I want you to be happy. And I hoped that my color could always remain by your side.

Kasa: (つ///д///⊂) Um… you don’t have to tell me everything all at once. But thank you… I really like these seashells.

The Most Precious Treasure in My Memory (Kasa’s Diary)

Today is an especially memorable day. I think that no matter how much time passes—even if I someday forget how to operate the fluorescent imaging device—I will definitely remember this moment.

Lucien usually sleeps very lightly, and only for short periods of time. Aside from monitoring data, it’s almost impossible for me to confirm whether he’s actually asleep.

But when I arrived at the lab this morning, I found him still asleep in the tank! Unlike when I first met him, Lucien was resting at the bottom of the tank, his tail curled beneath him, his head resting lightly against it, completely at ease. Even when I walked right up to the edge, he didn’t wake at all.

He only blinked when I accidentally bumped into a piece of equipment nearby.

He slowly rose to the surface, resting his arms against the edge of the glass, letting out a small yawn before greeting me. When he said “Good morning” with half-lidded eyes and the faintest smile on his lips, I almost screamed.

Mysterious, dangerous, beautiful… I could fill a whole basket with words to describe him. But I never expected that “lazy” would suit him this well. I really want to see it again!!

☆☆

Heartbeat Warning (Lucien’s Diary)

After that body measurement, she seemed to come up with countless new research topics related to me. As her sole research subject, I am willing to participate in any of her experiments—and provide whatever assistance she requires.

However, her curiosity exceeded even my expectations. She insisted on carefully examining the arrangement of the scales along my shoulders and abdomen. Perhaps the topic itself holds some merit.

But this particular researcher seemed to forget just how close she was to me—close enough that I could feel her breath against my skin. She still doesn’t seem to realize that her influence on me has already surpassed that of most experimental variables.

Even after the heart rate monitor began to sound, she remained on high alert—repeatedly asking what had happened, whether I felt unwell, if there was any sign of rejection, or if something had gone wrong during the process. How could I possibly explain that the greatest variable of all—her very presence—is enough to influence the outcome?

If I were to tell her directly, she likely wouldn’t believe me. At that moment, I did find myself regretting that I had teased her quite so much. It seems we will have to begin by building trust first.

☆☆

DAY 5

Kasa: Huh? Did you bring a book this time? Let me see—what is it? Wait… why did you bring the picture books I read as a child?!

Lucien: Your bookshelf is mostly filled with research reports and professional literature. These few books, being thinner and full of illustrations, naturally caught my attention. So… books that are mostly pictures are called “picture books”?

Kasa: Yep. They’re meant for children, so they’re easier to understand.

Lucien: I see. And these all seem to be picture books about “mermaids”?

Kasa: Hehe, I’ve loved mermaid stories since I was little. That’s kind of why I became a researcher. In a way, these stories are what brought me closer to you. (*۷u۷*)

Lucien: Then allow me to take a look at the books Kasa read as a child. “Deep within the azure sea lies a wondrous kingdom. Its inhabitants all possess long fish tails and can live freely beneath the water…”

The Other Side of the Sea (Kasa’s Diary)

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, I practically forced Lucien around in a stroller to visit different places. His expression looked a little complicated, but it’s fine~ When the sun is shining, you should go outside, look at the sea, and appreciate the beauty around you.

I brought him to a beach filled with beautiful coral. I wanted him to understand that the sea is not only vast and mysterious, but also full of life and vitality—a place that nurtures countless forms of life.

Although Lucien didn’t say anything, when he moved among the coral, the sway of his tail seemed a little broader than usual, and the curve of his eyes softer. He reached out and gently touched the coral, and the fish seemed to accept him as one of their own, swimming around him without fear. The scene was both heartwarming and breathtakingly beautiful.

However, judging from his expression… he was probably treating the fish as research subjects. Run, little fish!

☆☆

On Transportation Methods When Going Out (Lucien’s Diary)

Today, she excitedly told me that the sun was shining brightly—perfect weather for going out to see the sea and enjoy the sunlight. Although I have spent more time outside these past few days than in the previous twenty years combined, I still chose to set aside my research and go out with her. More than the progress of my work, I did not want to miss the sight of her smile.

Along the way, she enthusiastically told me about the itinerary she had planned. She had filled this bright, sunny day with everything I had ever mentioned that I “liked.”

Whether human or mermaid, one should look at the things they enjoy—things that move them. Even as we explore the unknown, we should not forget to appreciate the present moment. When the next sunny day arrives, I will arrange a day like this for her.

However… there is likely no need to indulge my “hobby” of being pushed around in a stroller again. I will find other ways to make her happy. …Though, if she truly enjoys it that much, perhaps next time I should be the one pushing her.

☆☆

DAY 6

Lucien: It seems your paper is almost finished?

Kasa: That’s right! And thank you for the idea you gave me last time—without you, I don’t know how much longer I would have been stuck!

Lucien: In that case, will my name appear in your paper?

Kasa: Of course! After all, the main subject of this paper is you.

Lucien: You’ve misunderstood. I’ve heard that there is an “Acknowledgements” section at the end of a thesis. Perhaps my name should appear there as well?

Kasa: If you want, of course it can. Without you, this paper wouldn’t exist in the first place. But… is there really a difference between being mentioned in the paper and in the acknowledgements?

Lucien: Of course there is. I’m not merely your research subject. I am also someone who asks questions with you, explores with you, experiments with you—and ultimately arrives at conclusions alongside you. Regardless of my identity, I don’t want to be left out.

Setting a Small Goal (Kasa’s Diary)

Lucien was nowhere to be seen all day. I finally found him on the beach behind the lab. When I caught him, it was the first time I had ever seen such a clear expression of surprise—and guilt—on his face. He probably thought he had hidden it well.

Unfortunately, after observing him for so long, I know that whenever he suddenly disappears, he’s usually somewhere out of sight—but still within range of sensing his surroundings. The lab isn’t that large. If I check every possible location that fits those conditions, I’ll always find him eventually. Maybe one day, I’ll become an expert at finding Lucien.

Still, seeing him quietly bandaging himself… I couldn’t help feeling conflicted. Without saying much, I took the bandage from his hand. Together, we carefully wrapped his wound.

I’m not stupid—I can tell these marks were left when he took samples from his own tail. Experiments are important, but safety and proper methods are just as important!

Let’s set a small goal first: before becoming an expert at finding Lucien, I should become an expert at keeping him from getting hurt.

☆☆

Even Experts Slip Up (Lucien’s Diary)

She is always far more perceptive than I expect. Even though I carefully cleared away the experimental records and equipment, she still discovered that I had been using myself as a test subject.

Where, exactly, did I make a mistake that allowed her to notice I was bandaging myself on the beach behind the lab? Could it be related to her Evol ability? But as far as I know, that ability only activates when her life is in danger. It seems she still holds many secrets I cannot yet unravel.

But the more pressing question is this: how do I make her smile again? Perhaps inviting her to the market once more would work.

…No. More importantly, I need to refine my research methods, so that I don’t cause her unnecessary worry. But how can I obtain biological samples without harming myself? …Perhaps I should simply dive into the deep sea and capture a mermaid for our research.

However, before attempting anything like that, I would need to properly discuss it with her. After all, I promised not to act recklessly.

Given her personality and her approach to research, such a plan is unlikely to be approved anytime soon. Even if it were, she would undoubtedly list countless “prohibited actions” for me. That would certainly complicate the research.

…And yet, strangely enough, I don’t find that troublesome at all.

☆☆

Lucien: You’ve been gazing at the sea for quite a while. What are you thinking about?

Kasa: I was wondering… what’s on the other side of the ocean?

Lucien: From a geographical perspective, it might be another, warmer continent.
But if I were to give a more romantic answer… I’d hope for an untouched land that no one has ever set foot on.

Kasa: Why? Because it represents the unknown?

Lucien: That’s only part of it. To put it another way… if it were a place no one knew about, far away from both humans and mermaids… it might be a good place to hide you away.

Kasa: Hide me? Why?

Lucien: Perhaps… it’s an instinctive preference influenced by my current form.

Kasa: Really? I have a feeling you’re lying again.

Lucien: Heh…

Kasa: Huh? Other researchers are coming this way… Lucien, over here!

Lucien: Why did you suddenly pull me behind the rocks?

Kasa: Didn’t you say hiding is an instinct mermaids have? Since you like it, I’ll play along.

Lucien: …In that case, I feel like I want to hide you away even more now. ♥

If Tomorrow… (Kasa’s Diary)

Sometimes, when I look at Lucien, I think about what he was like back in that abandoned research institute. Day after day, he floated in nutrient-filled water, absentmindedly playing with the bubbles he created. His gaze observed everything with calm indifference, only occasionally showing a flicker of interest when I mentioned something that caught his attention.

Even now, he sometimes stares into the distance, his dark eyes like lifeless glass. Even when he’s right beside me, he can feel so far away. I don’t know if it’s because he’s always thinking about some distant future… or if part of him is still trapped in that enclosed tank.

If he ever has the chance… will he tell me about his past? But somehow, I feel like that might not be the most important thing. He could be a tragic experimental subject, a researcher who once designed extreme experiments… anyone, or no one at all.

As long as he keeps moving forward, walking the path he believes in— As long as he is Lucien, that’s enough.

And of course, I’ll walk a little faster, just to keep up with him… so we can reach the same destination together.

☆☆

Giving Meaning to Everything (Lucien’s Diary)

I thought today would be a pleasant day, but soon after we arrived at the beach, it began to rain. I’ve always known the south to be gloomy and prone to rain. Still, watching the raindrops fall, I felt a faint sense of disappointment—much like she did.

It’s funny. At first, I believed I would be satisfied simply by leaving that tank. But after stepping outside, more and more desires began to surface. Expectations followed soon after.

Now, even something as trivial as a change in the weather can influence my mood. And the one responsible for all of this… is the person standing beside me. So I took her hand and led her beneath the sea.

After all, if one considers the ocean as the sky, then the same shade of blue can still be found.

Her mood lifted, just as I expected. Her eyes curved slightly, her pupils reflecting the gentle ripples of the water—and the fleeting shadows of passing fish.

The sea is simply the sea, and the sky is simply the sky.

Yet these things—objectively unchanged—become meaningful, and even beautiful, simply because she is here with me. …Perhaps what I truly enjoy is seeing the world through her eyes.

without that one CG I got the impression Lucien was drowning MC lol

☆☆

My Thoughts About the Event

I loved everything about this event — the date, the card, the daily dialogues & diaries… everything was PERFECT. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve been this hyped about any MLQC event before!

And of course, the fact that I actually managed to get the card and play the date made the whole experience even better. I had to do 87 pulls (including free pulls), and I lost all my coupons and gems in the process — but it was totally worth it! On top of that, I even got ↓ another Lucien SSR, so not a bad deal, right? (Let’s just.. ignore the fact that I’m now a completely broke f2p player and probably can’t participate in any events anytime soon lol.)

Story & Dynamics

In this AU date, the roles are reversed again, and we can see some similarities to the Prison event: the MC is the scientist, and mermaid Lucien is her test subject. However, her attitude toward Lucien isn’t as cold as it was in the Prison event. Still, there’s this subtle tension throughout the entire date — both of them constantly wondering whether they can trust the other.

Even though Lucien is the one behind the glass this time, he’s far from being a passive subject. He carefully observes MC as well and even guides her at times, subtly steering the situation in his favor.

I really loved how their first encounter in this date mirrors their original meeting in Season 1. Back then, MC caught Lucien’s attention because she brought color back into his vision — and here, MC, who has dreamed of studying mermaids since childhood, sees Lucien as something truly special. <3

Drama, Romance & Chemistry

Of course, the drama and pain are present throughout the story — Lucien suffering in the water tank, the volcano erupting, and the lab collapsing…

And then we get that unforgettable underwater moment — the mouth-to-mouth breathing scene (aka… yes, basically a kiss!!). Their chemistry is undeniable the entire time. Even when they’re clashing or being cautious, there’s always that underlying connection between them.

Characterization & Relationship Themes

What really makes this event shine is how well it captures the core dynamics of their relationship:

  • Lucien’s ability to take control and subtly turn situations to his advantage.
  • His mystery — withholding information, knowing more than he reveals, and even causing small “incidents” on purpose.
  • The contrast in how Lucien treats pain: he brushes off his own suffering, but clearly worries about the MC (you can literally hear the worry in his voice when he notices her injury. </3)
  • And of course, the lighter moments — his teasing comments that make MC blush, or the running joke about whether he even sleeps (and when he actually does, MC calls that moment precious<3)

Intellectual Connection

Another thing I really appreciated is that both Lucien and the MC are scientists here, which allows them to interact on a more equal, intellectual level. They exchange knowledge and fill in each other’s gaps — Lucien teaches her about mermaids, while MC introduces him to the outside world.

MC is smart and much more assertive than usual; she questions things and stands her ground. But honestly… in that final scene, she didn’t need to resist anymore — she could’ve just thrown herself into Lucien’s arms already!

Diary Entries (My Favorite Part!)

My absolute favorite part of the event was reading the diary entries. Especially the ones where MC conducts “research” on Lucien — body measurements, casually touching his tail, and the way her presence literally raises his heart rate…

These little side stories were full of soft cute stuff that completely melted my heart. <3

Visuals & Design

The card art is gorgeous as always. At first, I wasn’t super into the unevolved version, but now I actually like it even more than the evolved one!

And I have to say — I’m usually not a fan of boys long-haired versions (like Westmoon), but mermaid Lucien?? Absolutely stunning. He looks like he could star in a shampoo commercial at any moment!

The event page design is a bit on the cute/childish side, but still very charming.

Mini-Game Feedback

My only real complaint is the mini-game. It was honestly a bit boring because it was way too easy. I’m the kind of person who wants to earn the reward — like, let me struggle a little first 😅

Of course, it’s great that the game is accessible to everyone, but it just felt like it went on forever without becoming more challenging. I would’ve loved:

  • Increasing difficulty over time
  • A leaderboard system
  • Maybe even special rewards for high scores

That definitely would have made it more engaging for me.

To wrap things up, here are a few short gameplay clips from the event. Thanks for joining me on this little journey through the event — until next time! 💦
