Summer Event / Haunted Manor - Gavin's Story Translations
Happy birthday, Gavin! 🎉
Unfortunately, I haven't had time to translate and edit Gavin's birthday date video yet, so his birthday post will be delayed by a couple of days. The celebrations will have to wait—but in the meantime, I'm sharing my translations of his Manor Story!
Intro: Holiday check-in
Translation
As we ascend the winding stone steps, a European-style manor with an elegant vaulted ceiling gradually unfolds in our view.
On the creamy white exterior walls, lush green vines climb the exquisitely carved marble columns. Under the eaves, lamps flicker gently, exuding the classical charm of this century-old building.
I looked up and couldn't help but murmur a sigh.
Kasa: Wow, this place is amazing... It looks so much bigger than it appears in the photos!
Gavin responded, his amber eyes slightly narrowed in the sunlight as he surveyed the building before him.
Gavin: According to what I read on the invitation, this estate is quite large.
Gavin: There's also a mountain and a waterfall behind it, which we can explore as much as we like.
I took his arm and walked up the steps with a smile.
Kasa: Hehe, thanks to Mr. Gavin, I was able to experience the manor holiday this time~
---
Kasa: OK~ The overnight stay at the space museum has been successfully booked~
The afternoon sun slanted across the travel guide on the coffee table. I curled up on the carpet, my fingertips occasionally gliding across the tablet.
A week ago, Gavin and I finally got a rare long vacation. Taking advantage of the free time, we started planning our vacation together.
Kasa: Is there anywhere else you'd like to go?
He looked up from the page filled with recommendations for tourist attractions, and thoughtfully pointed to an event calendar with a lot of likes.
Gavin: How is it here?
Gavin: There's a former police station here that used to be quite famous; it'll be open to the public next month.
Gavin: The exhibition will display evidence from some classic cases from the past, and I've heard there are many previously undisclosed details, which should be very interesting.
His eyes sparkled, and his voice unconsciously rose in pitch.
Kasa: Let's go check it out! There's a food street nearby, we can check it out together!
I was tapping lightly on the calendar on my tablet when I suddenly heard Gavin's phone ringing repeatedly. A moment later, I heard the person next to me chuckle softly.
Gavin: This kid……
As if sensing my curiosity, Gavin turned to look at me.
Gavin: It's Xiao Zheng, the one from the publicity department.
I blinked, searching deep into my memory for a figure lying on a hospital bed by the harbor.
Kasa: I remember we searched for him in the woods for a long time.
Gavin turned the chat interface towards me, and a series of elegantly decorated architectural photos immediately came into view.
Gavin: A friend gave him two limited-time tickets to the Summer Palace, but the dates conflicted with his other planned activities.
Gavin: He thought it was a waste, so when he heard I was going on vacation, he came to ask me about it.
I took the phone, my gaze lingering on the introduction to the manor sent by Xiao Zheng.
Kasa: Stunning lake views, a private courtyard, 24-hour butler and private chef service... it sounds really appealing!
Kasa: But won't this conflict with our schedule?
He smiled and tapped his fingertips on the screen.
Gavin: Don't worry.
Gavin: The city we're going to for our vacation happens to have a branch of this estate.
---
As we spoke, we stepped into the manor's reception room.
The high ceilings and heavy wooden beams intertwine and extend, while dappled light and shadow stream in through the clear glass windows, making the space appear tranquil and dignified.
A pot of freshly brewed tea sits on the ebony tea table behind the counter, steam rising gently, as if the person who brewed the tea had just left.
However, the large living room was empty, so quiet that even the ticking of the wall clock could be clearly heard.
Gavin: The person who greet us might be busy, so let's wait a moment.
I suppressed my doubts and nodded, sitting down on the circular leather sofa and looking out the window to admire the shady garden view.
Yet, a faint sense of being watched crept in from behind.
I instinctively turned my head, my gaze pausing when it reached the end of the corridor—
All I could see was a gray, group portrait hanging there, the figures with pale faces and unusually deep pupils.
Just like that, five or six meters away, a dozen pairs of eyes stared right at me, making me feel uneasy.
??: Eeya—
As if in response to the current atmosphere, a faint groaning sound suddenly came from the wooden beams on the ceiling, as if someone was stepping over them.
However, upon closer listening, there was no sound of footsteps.
A sense of unease crept into my heart. I tugged at Gavin's sleeve and carefully began to speak.
Kasa: Gavin, don't you think those paintings hanging behind you look a bit strange?
Kasa: There seems to be some noise coming from the ceiling; it sounds a bit scary...
Gavin: This house is a bit old; the framework is probably worn out.
??: Yes, yes, this house is quite old; it makes noises here and there.
A deep voice suddenly drifted from behind me, startling me so much that my body stiffened.
An elderly man with a ruddy complexion emerged from the shadows and bowed to us.
Gavin pulled me close, offering comfort, and I looked up at him.
Gavin: Are you Uncle Cheng, the housekeeper here?
Gavin: My name is Gavin, and I booked the manor.
Housekeeper: Welcome, welcome! We've been waiting for you two distinguished guests for a long time!
The butler responded, took the invitation voucher, and began writing in the register. After completing the check-in process, he smiled and handed me a room key.
Housekeeper: Don't worry, miss. If there were anything strange here, I would have been the first to run away.
I smiled a little embarrassedly and took Gavin's hand as we walked into the room.
However, walking on the creaking floor and looking at the gray portraits on both sides, I still felt a little uneasy.
I subtly wrapped my arm around Gavin's and moved closer to him.
It wasn't until I heard a soft laugh from above that I belatedly coughed.
Kasa: I have a feeling this place is a bit chilly... I need to soak up some of Inspector Gavin's warmt!!
Gavin: Just rubbing is not enough.
He reached out and pulled me into his arms, and as if that wasn't enough, a light kiss landed on my lips.
The surrounding light was dim, but his eyes sparkled with a smile.
Gavin: All passed on to you.
Looking at him with a smile in his eyes, my whole heart felt lighter.
The journey has only just begun, but my good mood has already quietly blossomed.
Story 1: Eerie Shadows on the Waves
Translation
Wow——
The bright sunlight poured down on the surface of the pool like scattered gold, and the clear water rippled with shimmering golden light.
I swung my legs on the lounge chair, took a leisurely bite of a mini sandwich, and looked at Gavin swimming in the pool not far away.
His back swayed with his movements in the sunlight, each undulation rippling with the rhythm of shimmering light.
I instinctively reached into my bag, intending to take out the Polaroid camera I had specially prepared to capture the scene before me.
After a frantic search, sunglasses and sunscreen rolled onto the recliner, but the Polaroid camera was nowhere to be found.
Kasa: Huh? Weird...
A soft splash of water came from the steps, and suddenly a string of water droplets dripped onto the tiles in front of me.
Gavin: What are you looking for?
Kasa: My Polaroid camera. I clearly remember putting it in my bag when I left.
Gavin: It should still be in the room. Shall we go back and check?
Kasa: It's okay, no rush.
After I finished speaking, I raised my eyes and looked at the person in front of me.
His damp, tousled hair clung to the side of his neck, and water droplets rolled down his shoulders, forming streaks on his muscular chest.
I covered his wet head with a towel and, laughing, gestured with my fingers to make a viewing window.
Kasa: I'll just use my eyes to remember everything today~
He smiled slightly, his amber eyes filled with laughter, and casually picked up the cold drink on the table and drank it all in one gulp.
His broad, muscular back stretched out, tinged slightly red in the sunlight. I blinked.
Kasa: Why is your back all red...?
He glanced down and shrugged indifferently.
Gavin: It's alright, I don't feel anything...
Under my disapproving gaze, he swallowed the rest of his words, picked up my sunscreen spray, and handed it to me.
Gavin: ...Cough, I can't see very well behind me, could you apply it for me?
I took the spray and pressed the nozzle, but the strong white mist only lasted for two seconds before suddenly weakening.
A little confused, I shook the bottle again, only to hear the metal ball inside making a crisp echo as it struck the empty bottle.
Kasa: ...This is far too insufficient! I've barely used it a few times.
I muttered to myself as I rummaged through my bag and pulled out another bottle of sunscreen. I squeezed a little into my palm and then applied it evenly to his exposed skin.
Kasa: Speaking of the sunscreen we bought together, you didn't just never apply it, did you?
Gavin: No, I've applied it to my face and neck.
Kasa: ...What about your arms and back? Sunscreen should be applied to your entire body!
His eyes shifted away awkwardly for a moment, then suddenly looked at me.
Gavin: There's nothing I can do; I can't apply the remaining part myself.
Gavin: Luckily you come and help me.
As he spoke, a sly smile flickered in his eyes.
My heart skipped a beat, but I still let out a soft hum, my palm slowly tracing his firm muscles.
After the white sunscreen was fully absorbed into his back, I gently patted him.
Kasa: All done~
Before I could finish speaking, he suddenly grabbed my wrist. His warm breath gently brushed against my face, and our intertwined breaths carried the scent of the blazing sun.
Gavin: Now that the "preparations" are complete, let's get started!
A gentle breeze stirred up sparkling water droplets, lifting us high into the air.
The next second, a sudden feeling of weightlessness came over us, and we fell into the pool, where the surging waves submerged us.
With a triumphant smile, he pulled me into the water.
The clear pool water was warmed by the sun, so comfortable that it made me squint my eyes involuntarily.
I waded through the water, swimming slowly behind Gavin. Feeling a bit tired, I swam towards the inflatable bed, intending to take a short rest.
However, before I could get close, a cool and slippery sensation suddenly wrapped around my ankle from the bottom of the water.
Kasa: ...!!
Before I could react, the force pulled me.
The water suddenly surged over my head, and a feeling of suffocation welled up from all sides. I struggled to break free, but ended up choking on a mouthful of water.
The next second, a pair of warm, strong arms suddenly lifted me out of the water from behind.
Gavin: It's okay!
The force beneath my feet vanished instantly. I clung to Gavin's shoulder, gasping for breath, and shook my head weakly.
Just as I was about to speak, I was so frightened by the scene before me that L stopped talking.
...Drops of red liquid slid down Gavin's arm, spreading into shocking bloodstains.
Kasa: Gavin!
Gavin was clearly taken aback, then suddenly tightened his arms, lifting me out of the water.
A warm breeze swept in, and when I came to my senses, I was already safely on a lounge chair by the pool.
Gavin: Where are you hurt? Let me see.
Kasa: I'm fine. Aren't you the one who's hurt?
We looked at each other for a moment, vaguely realizing something was wrong. Looking back at the pool, we both froze in place.
That bright red color vanished without a trace, and the surface of the pool remained calm.
If it weren't for the faint red water stains remaining on his body, the panic I had just experienced would have seemed like an illusion.
Gavin looked around, and after a moment spoke in a low voice.
Gavin: There's no trace of Evol fluctuations, what's going on...?
Gavin: Kasa, did you notice anything just now?
After he finished speaking, he placed a towel, warmed by the sun, on my shoulder, then half-squatted in front of me, lifted a corner of the towel, and carefully wiped the water stains from my face.
Kasa: I think I was just pulled by something, and then... what was that red liquid...?
Gavin: Don't be afraid, we will find the reason.
He held my slightly trembling hands, gradually easing my tense nerves
Gavin: Let's go find Uncle Cheng and ask him about the situation.
When we returned to the hall, the butler, who had heard the commotion, peeked out from behind his newspaper.
Gavin recounted what had just happened. The steward frowned, then suddenly slapped his head.
Housekeeper: Did either of you apply sunscreen before going into the water?
Gavin: Yes, but what does that have to do with what just happened?
Housekeeper: The strange thing I mentioned earlier... must be because I forgot to turn off the pool's automatic maintenance system.
Kasa: Repair system?
Housekeeper: Yes, our system releases a colorimetric reagent periodically to detect water quality.
Housekeeper: When it reacts with certain substances in sunscreen products, it can turn the pool water red...
Housekeeper: I'm sorry to have startled you both. I'll go shut down the system right now and let you know once the pool is fixed.
I let out a long sigh and slumped softly onto the sofa.
Kasa: ...Thankfully it was just a false alarm.
Kasa: I almost thought some kind of paranormal phenomenon had occurred!
He turned his gaze away from the departing butler, raised his hand, and ruffled my hair.
Gavin: We didn't have enough time to have fun.
Gavin: After the repairs are done, I'll take you to the pool again.
I nodded and picked up my swimming bag. As I walked through the corridor, the swimming pool outside the window still shimmered in the sunlight.
When no one was watching, a small ripple suddenly appeared on the calm water, like an invisible fish diving into the water.
I turned back immediately—
A delicate ripple spread slowly across the water's surface, only to return to stillness in the blink of an eye...
Story 2: Midnight Puzzle
Translation
A breeze carrying the chill of the night swept through the room, lifting and lowering the half-drawn gauze curtains.
The television in the guest room was playing an old film from Uncle Cheng's collection.
In the yellowish scene, the female protagonist is alone in the old house when the chandelier inside suddenly dims with a "click," creating a depressing atmosphere.
I popped a piece of popcorn into my mouth, confidently predicting what would happen next.
Kasa: Hmph, soon a mysterious person will definitely come knocking on the door.
Gavin: Have you seen this movie?
Kasa: No, but in the past, due to limited filming technology, people liked to use the "seeing sound but not people" technique to create atmosphere.
The next second, sure enough, a knock came from the TV.
Kasa: Hehe, see what I'm about to say...
Thump, thump-thump—a heavy sound suddenly came from the direction of the door, strangely overlapping with the sound of the film.
I couldn't help but shiver and hesitantly looked at Gavin.
Kasa: Is someone knocking at the door?
Gavin obviously heard the noise too. He subtly pulled me closer to him and immediately pressed the pause button on the remote control.
The music of the video stopped abruptly, and the room was instantly terrifyingly quiet. He turned his head slightly, the muscles in his body tightening, like a wolf sniffing danger
Kasa: What's wrong?
Gavin: ...This was not a knock.
Gavin: The sound was coming from below, and it sounded metallic.
Dong Dong——
As if to confirm his words, a heavy knocking sound rang out again, the sound not loud but very penetrating.
It seemed to be coming from a crack in the floor, or perhaps from deep within the corridor.
He frowned, as if deep in thought, and turned to look at me, about to speak. I quickly interrupted him.
Kasa: Wherever you go, I'll be with you!
Gavin: I didn't say I was going to leave you here.
He smiled and took my hand, opening the door and walking in the direction of the sound.
Pale moonlight streamed through the window into the corridor, outlining a hazy silhouette in the deep night, while the shadows of trees swayed silently on the walls.
I gently curled my fingertips, trying to press my palm closer to Gavin's, and listened to the occasional muffled thuds around me, my heart tightening involuntarily.
Finally, a wooden door with exquisite carvings appeared before us. Gavin, who was standing to the side, stopped in his tracks.
Gavin: The sound comes from here.
Kasa: This is...the kitchen? At this hour, could it be Uncle Cheng?
A hint of doubt flashed in Gavin's eyes, and he reached out and knocked on the door. The knocking sound was particularly clear in the quiet environment.
Gavin: Is anyone there?
There was no response, and even the previous thuds had disappeared. The corridor was so quiet that only our breathing could be heard.
Seeing this, he turned the handle without hesitation, slipped into the room, and scanned the room with his sharp eyes.
Under the dim yellow night light, the empty kitchen was deserted, with only a faint "click-clack" sound reaching our ears.
Suddenly, a dark figure, accompanied by a familiar muffled thud, darted across the ground in a flash.
A sharp gust of wind swept past his ear, instantly stopping the dark figure, as if an invisible shackle bound it, rendering it unable to move.
The moment I saw it clearly, I gasped in shock—
An old doll stared straight at us, its drumsticks still striking, sending chills down my spine.
As if sensing our arrival, the toy's neck spring emitted a piercing sound, causing its entire body to shake violently.
The wind whipped up a silver dinner knife, its handle striking the doll's head.
After a muffled thud, the doll finally quieted down and was carried by the wind to the dining table.
Gavin: I turned it off.
Kasa: Pfft... Inspector Gavin's move was indeed swift, ruthless, and accurate.
The previously terrifying atmosphere was dispelled by his physical methods. I looked at him with amusement and bent down to gently poke the doll.
Kasa: It turns out the "culprit" was just a doll...
Kasa: But how could it start moving on its own in the middle of the night?
Gavin: There's probably a problem with the spring.
Gavin: The parts inside were initially too tight, but they loosened on their own after a while.
I nodded thoughtfully and glanced back at the kitchen, which we had made a bit messy.
Kasa: Let's tidy this up first, and then talk to the housekeeper tomorrow.
He nodded and joined me in cleaning up the mess in the kitchen. When we got to the last cupboard, I slowed down a few steps.
A mini pancake pan, about the size of a palm, lies quietly, accompanied by a small oil brush, a stove, and a "bamboo dragonfly," making it look like an exquisite pancake stall.
It looks like a set of food toys.
I picked it up curiously and examined it for a moment, then gently twirled it with my fingertips.
Perhaps after experiencing that "heart-stopping moment," my tense nerves have finally relaxed.
Seeing these adorable toys, I suddenly felt a surge of playfulness.
A thought struck me, and I took it out and placed it on the dining table, looking expectantly at Gavin.
Kasa: Is Mr. Gavin setting up a stall? I'd like a pancake!
Gavin paused for a moment, his gaze falling on the mini pancake stall, a slightly surprised expression on his face.
Gavin: Now? Use it to make pancakes?
Kasa: Yes, this pot has burn marks, so it should be a food toy that can be used for cooking.
He picked up the small pot and examined it carefully, then shrugged, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
Gavin: I've never used such small kitchen utensils before, I don't know if I can succeed.
Gavin: But if you want to try it, I can give it a shot.
Kasa: Hehe, then I'll be your assistant.
I couldn't help but smile and excitedly started rummaging through the refrigerator, a sweet feeling welling up inside me.
It seems that no matter what kind of wonderful ideas I have, the person in front of me will always respond.
When I returned with quail eggs, greens, and sausages, Gavin had already taken out corn flour and started mixing batter.
Seeing some powder on his sleeve, I walked over to him and skillfully rolled up his sleeve, revealing a section of his strong forearm.
He smiled at me, poured batter into the pan, and awkwardly used two fingers to pick up the "bamboo dragonfly" and spread the pancake out.
Under the warm yellow light, his brows furrowed slightly, as if he were troubled by the overly tiny tool.
As the pancake gradually took shape, he went to the condiment section to look for it.
His gaze paused when he saw a bottle of brown seasoning. I followed his look and asked curiously.
Kasa: Hmm? What kind of sauce is this?
Gavin: I don't know either, but I always feel it tastes better with it added.
He frowned slightly, his fingertips tracing the blurry label on the can, as if trying to retrieve a fragment from his memory.
Gavin: Do you want to give it a try?
Kasa: OK~
He smiled, unscrewed the bottle cap, and applied the seasoning with a brush.
A faint aroma filled the kitchen; though no words were spoken, a silent understanding flowed through the air.
Soon, two pancakes, each only the length of an index finger, were ready.
The golden-brown pancakes were steaming hot and looked almost identical to real pancakes, except that they were a little smaller.
Kasa: Is this pancake really edible?
Gavin: The ingredients were just taken out of the refrigerator, and I also cleaned the pancake pan.
Gavin: It should be fine, right?
Kasa: Then I definitely have to try Boss Gavin's special dishes!
After we finished speaking, we each picked up a pancake and put it in our mouths.
Gavin: How do you like it?
Kasa: It tastes just as good as the ones you made before! The only downside is...
I smacked my lips, savored the taste, and shook my head with a hint of regret.
Kasa: These pancakes are too small, I can't get enough of them.
Gavin's shoulders trembled slightly, a handsome smile appeared on his lips, and he coughed lightly with his knuckles to his lips.
Gavin: How many more should I make?
Kasa: Forget it, it's too late today.
Gavin: Then I'll borrow Uncle Cheng's kitchen tomorrow morning.
Gavin: Besides pancakes, you can also think of other breakfast options.
Kasa: Can I order anything?
Gavin: Of course, when "Gavin Family Breakfast Shop" open, what's on the menu...?
Gavin: The boss lady has the final say.
The warm yellow light in the kitchen softened his figure, and the clattering of pots and pans seemed to quietly outline a picture of happiness.
Story 3: Peeking through the trees
Translation
The woods were quiet yet lively in the afternoon. Several fearless squirrels hopped among the branches and leaves, and wildflowers of various colors swayed gently in the wind.
I looked at the soft picnic mat beneath me, took a deep breath of the air mixed with the scent of earth and forest, and let out a long, contented sigh.
Kasa: How wonderful! The weather is beautiful, the scenery is beautiful!
Gavin: The cookies were baked very well.
Gavin also relaxed and leaned against the tree trunk, picked up a milk biscuit I had prepared, examined it for a moment, and then took a bite out of it.
Gavin: Did you draw the patterns on it too?
Kasa: Hehe, actually, while I was making cookies just now, I suddenly felt like drawing something for no reason.
Kasa: So I just grabbed a chocolate pen and scribbled around a bit, and it turned out surprisingly easy...
As he listened, he reached for a few cookies with different patterns and carefully compared them.
Gavin: Wow, that's amazing! No wonder it looks even better than what you buy store.
Kasa: Pfft, that's an exaggeration.
Kasa: However, I also think I might have a tiny bit of talent.
Kasa: I didn't make a single mistake while drawing these patterns; they were very smooth, as if I had drawn them many times before.
Gavin: Could you make it a few more times after that? I want to eat it again.
Golden light gently enveloped the ends of his hair, and his bright eyes appeared exceptionally clear in the light and shadow, making my heart beat a few beats faster.
I blinked and poked his shoulder with a smile.
Kasa: Of course, but I've decided to start charging you from the very beginning.
Kasa: One snack and one photo~
Gavin chuckled lazily, propping himself up on his hand as he looked at me. Strands of his hair swayed gently with his movement, brushing past his brow and casting dappled shadows.
He turned his head slightly to the side, a slight smile curving his lips, and stared straight at me with his slightly curved eyes, as if he was certain that I would like him.
Gavin: Go ahead and take the picture. Take it however you like.
The sound of my heartbeat drowned out the cicadas chirping in the forest; before I could even slide the camera away, the image had already been etched into my heart.
I couldn't help but tilt my head back and lightly kiss the corner of his lips.
His eyes darkened, and he reached out to pull me into his arms, returning my kiss with an even more passionate one.
Gavin: How many snacks can I exchange for this?
He said this half-jokingly, while casually kissing my cheek a few times.
Kasa: That doesn't count; we agreed on photos.
Even though I knew it was cheating, I still couldn't help but rub my cheek against his, snuggling deeper into his arms while seriously waving my phone.
A soft, warm laugh reached my ear. Gavin casually took my phone, switched it to selfie mode, and adjusted the angle.
Gavin: Come on, give me a smile!
The fresh scent of sea salt mingled with the warmth of the sun was almost within reach. I was smiling and looking at the camera when I noticed something flickering on the screen.
Through the gaps in the trees behind us, we could vaguely see a blurry human figure, seemingly staring intently at us.
My smile froze instantly—
The next second, I felt a tightness around my waist, and the person next to me had firmly shielded me behind him.
At the same time, a rapid gust of air surged and howled, suddenly sweeping aside the bushes and branches, revealing only an empty meadow.
Kasa: Did we see it wrong...?
Gavin frowned, his doubts deepening.
Gavin: You read that right. It could be some kind of wild animal.
The hand resting on my waist provided a reassuring warmth. I took a deep breath and looked up at him—
Kasa: Do you want to go over and have a look?
He paused for a moment, his beautiful eyes looking at me, and a smile gradually appeared.
Gavin: Aren't you afraid?
Kasa: Actually, it's a bit true... that's why I need to figure out exactly what it is, so as not to let it affect my mood for the upcoming vacation.
Kasa: After all, with Inspector Gavin investigating, all the criminal gangs and evil spirits will be wiped out in one fell swoop!
---
The trees were lush and verdant, their aerial roots tangled and bulging on the ground. I looked around and unconsciously lowered my voice.
Kasa: Upon entering, the woods did indeed appear rather eerie...
Kasa: Could it really be something?...
Gavin: Generally speaking, no, but there is a very small possibility that it is Evol.
Seeing my surprised look, he squeezed my palm and explained with a smile.
Gavin: I was chatting with the housekeeper a few days ago and heard that the original owner of this place was a rather special Evolver.
Gavin: Therefore, there may be residual Evol energy in this area, which may occasionally trigger anomalous events.
Gavin: I sent a message to the relevant departments yesterday.
Gavin: It appears that it is neither harmful nor likely to cause any impact.
He spoke softly and walked unhurriedly through the shady woods, yet he himself was like a signpost illuminating the path ahead.
Looking at him like this, I couldn't help but recall the investigative trip we had taken together—
It was the same city, the same forest, the same slightly unsettling situation, and the same person around me, who, as always, gave me an unbreakable sense of security.
I hugged his arm tightly and walked forward with him, smiling.
Kasa: But... what if there really is some supernatural force that is neither Evol nor human?
He raised an eyebrow, a confident smile playing on his lips.
Gavin: Then we should definitely take a walk around.
Gavin: Let these things know not to touch what they shouldn't touch.
---
As it got dark, we decided to head back home.
Seeing the already gloomy woods become even darker, I took out my phone to turn on the flashlight, but accidentally activated the camera instead.
Before I could even switch to the interface, the screen suddenly shook, and a slender figure appeared at the edge!
Kasa: Gavin... Gavin!
My finger trembled, and I suddenly pulled Gavin, signaling him to look at the screen...
However, in the next instant, a crudely designed cartoon spider suddenly popped out from behind the figure and slowly crawled across the screen.
Kasa: ...?
Gavin: Hmm... it seems like the case has been solved.
My face flushed. If I had waited a few more seconds, this whole blunder might have been avoided.
When I secretly glanced at Gavin, I saw that the corners of his lips were slightly raised and his lips were pursed.
I was both annoyed and amused, so I poked his side.
Kasa: Laugh if you want!
He pulled me closer to his side, affectionately nuzzled the top of my head with his chin, and laughed out loud without any restraint.
I glared at him angrily, then lunged at him in retaliation, but he grabbed my wrist first, and my fingertips were suddenly gently encircled by something—
He firmly placed a grass ring adorned with small blue wildflowers on my ring finger, which swayed gently in the breeze.
When I looked up, I was met by those crystal-clear eyes.
Kasa: How did you conjure this up...?
Gavin: It said itself that it wanted me to put it here.
He raised his eyebrows slightly, and the strands of hair that bounced up in the wind silently carried a hint of smugness.
Kasa: Okay...! What else did it say?
Gavin: It even said that since you accepted the gift, you should kiss me.
Kasa: What if I don't listen to it?
I deliberately said things to tease him, but the corners of my lips had already been curving upwards with the faint blue hue on my fingertips.
Gavin: Then I'll kiss you.
Amidst laughter and playfulness, the evening breeze brought a refreshing coolness, carrying the fragrance of flowers and the fresh scent of grass and trees.
In a corner where no one was watching, a shadow stretched out obliquely.
It silently watched our retreating figures, as if seeing us off.
Story 4: The wind knows my heart
Translation
Clang clang
The chimes of the grandfather clock echoed through the empty manor, and no matter how many doors I pushed open, all I saw was a dimly lit corridor.
For some reason, there were always a few strange, lumpy things following me closely...
As my heart pounded like a rapid drumbeat, a cool breeze suddenly swept over my body.
It was gentle yet firm, as if someone was patting my back with their palm.
Enveloped by this gentle power, the surrounding scenery seemed to be isolated, and I slowly opened my eyes.
In the hazy vision, Gavin was sitting calmly by the balcony, letting the moonlight outline his silhouette, his eyes fixed on me without blinking.
When his eyes met mine, a hint of surprise flashed across his calm gaze.
Gavin: Why did you wake up?
Kasa: ...Gavin? Why aren't you asleep yet?
We blurted it out almost simultaneously, exchanged a glance, and couldn't help but laugh. Under the moonlight, his features were soft and gentle.
Gavin: The power went out, and I was too hot to sleep, so I decided to sit here and get some fresh air.
Gavin: I thought it would make you feel better if you got some fresh air, but I didn't expect you to wake up anyway.
I got up and sat down next to him, resting my head on his shoulder.
Kasa: I just had a dream where lots of little monsters were chasing me around the manor.
Kasa: Some of them were furry, and some floated around like ghosts... They were saying things I couldn't understand.
He lowered his eyes slightly, seemingly imagining what the little monsters in my dream looked like. I pursed my lips and continued speaking.
Kasa: However, even though I was in a panic in the dream, I could feel you there, and the nightmare was blown away with a whoosh.
His eyebrows curved into a gentle arc, and his amber pupils were filled with moonlight.
Gavin: Next time I'll make the wind arrive faster, so you won't have to run for so long to catch up with me.
A crisp, cool breeze swept over my hair and body once more, and the wind chimes on the windowsill rang out a series of clear, tinkling sounds.
As I looked at the full moon hanging high in the sky, I felt that such a midsummer night should not be wasted.
Kasa: Anyway, I can't sleep either. How about we go to the garden to look at the stars?

The mountaintop was indeed an excellent place for stargazing; the sky was like an overturned crystal jar, with thousands of stars shattered into a flowing Milky Way.
We chose a soft patch of grass and lay down side by side, the damp scent of grass mixed with the crispness of the night dew filling our nostrils.
A gentle breeze wafts around, bringing coolness to the summer night.
Kasa: Hehe, this seems more interesting than the overnight stay at the Space Museum!
Gavin: Is it because it's closer to the sky?
Kasa: That's only one aspect; more importantly, it's just the two of us here.
I rolled to my side and into his arms, feeling Gavin's laughter above my head.
Gavin: I also feel that the world is more open now than ever before.
In the distance, several screams of people with rashes broke the silence of the night. Before Gavin could speak, I raised my hand.
Kasa: I've seen documentaries; this should be the call of a night owl.
His chest heaved beneath him, and he seemed to have thought of something, a soft chuckle escaping his lips.
Gavin: Previously, when you went to escape rooms, you would be scared by the various background sounds used to create atmosphere.
Gavin: You seem to have become bolder now.
Knowing he was referring to what had happened in the pool and kitchen a few days ago, I couldn't help but turn to look at him.
Kasa: This is all thanks to Officer Gavin. After all, having someone as strong as you on earth by my side is invaluable!
He gently tucked the stray hairs beside my cheek behind ear, and stroked my earlobe with a tender gaze.
Gavin: You are clearly the one who is very capable.
Gavin: Before, in the woods, it was you who took the initiative to suggest going to take a look.
Kasa: Perhaps this is what they mean by "one who stays near vermilion gets stained red, and one who stays near Gavin becomes brave."
Kasa: But...
I propped my head up in his arms and looked at him with a smile.
Kasa: It seems you didn't immediately enter "case-handling mode" this time either.
Gavin: How so?
Kasa: Hmm... In the past, if something happened, you always seemed to thoroughly investigate and uncover the truth.
Kasa: But this time it seems more...leisurely? More relaxed?
Gavin: After all, it has been confirmed that there is no danger. I can cooperate with the relevant departments once they begin their investigation.
He saw me gesturing with my hands, and with a smile, he pulled me into his arms.
Gavin: I'm still on vacation, so family members have priority.
Gavin: Moreover, we haven't visited the old police station that we planned to go to yet, nor have we checked out the food street.
Gavin: There are still many, many things on the list waiting for the two of us to accomplish.
Gavin: I don't want to miss any of them.
Kasa: Those are just plans; it's okay if they don't all come to fruition.
Kasa: When did you become so interested in these things?
Gavin: Every time we plan a trip together, I can't help but look forward to it.
Gavin: Is this what "those close to Kasa love life" means?
As he spoke, he naturally raised his finger and pointed to the sky.
Gavin: With you here, even the clouds look beautiful now.
Gavin: Look at that cloud, doesn't it look like a sheep?
I laughed out loud, looked in the direction he was pointing, and then moved even closer to him.
Kasa: So, that's a whale next to it, and there are water sprays coming from it around.
Gavin: Yes, the fat one is a sperm whale, the one with the pointed head is a narwhal, and the biggest one is...
He jokingly pointed at the sky, his voice lazily reaching my ears, softer than the clouds above.
The clouds that filled the night sky seemed to truly resemble giant sea monsters that only appear in the ocean, floating and sinking in the gradually blurring vision.
Just as I was about to continue, I heard Gavin yawn loudly beside me.
I looked at the person next to me with a slight urge to laugh, and lowered my voice.
Kasa: It's getting late, shall we go back to sleep?
Gavin: But I want to stay here a little longer.
Kasa: We can't possibly sleep here tonight, can we?
Gavin: Why not?
As he spoke, he pulled me back into his arms as I tried to get up.
Gavin: The temperature here is just right, there are stars, clouds, and you...
His voice grew softer and softer, and his eyes gradually closed. I gently nuzzled his cheek and closed my eyes as I listened to his steady breathing.
I know that we will both have sweet dreams tonight.
Story 5: So happy that they forgot to leave
Translation
The sky outside the window was clear and bright, and the intertwined chirping of cicadas and birds created a lively melody.
Unlike the leisurely days of the past few days, Gavin and I spent the whole morning packing our luggage for the return trip.
Kasa: The charger and toiletries are packed, and my ID is in my bag... That should be about it.
Just as I was about to zip up the zipper, Gavin suddenly stopped me.
Gavin: And don't forget about Polaroid camera.
Kasa: Huh? Where did you find it?
Gavin bent his elbow and lazily pointed to the open drawer on the display shelf behind him.
Gavin: I just saw it when I checked.
Kasa: ...How did I end up placing it here?
I frowned and muttered a few words to myself, then thought about it and felt it was a pity.
Kasa: I wish I had found it sooner, so we could have taken more photos together.
He paused as he put the Polaroid camera into the box, raised an eyebrow, and suddenly pulled my arm.
With a light press of the shutter button, the flash went on and off with a "click".
It wasn't until the Polaroid slowly ejected the film that I blinked in realization.
Gavin: It's too late now.
He lowered his gaze to the still-undeveloped expanse of pure white, a faint smile spreading across his lips—
Just like the tenderness hidden in his eyes, it will eventually reveal the clearest answer at some point.
---
When we arrived at the path in front of the manor with our luggage, a brick-red taxi was already parked at the door.
When Uncle Cheng saw us come down, he smiled and nodded at us.
Housekeeper: I can't believe it's time for you to leave so soon. Did you enjoy your stay?
Gavin: Yes, the room was very comfortable and the facilities were all complete.
Kasa: Yes! The food was delicious, it felt even better than a resort hotel!
Housekeeper: Haha, that’s good!
Housekeeper: This manor hasn't hosted any guests in a long time, and I was worried that the hospitality might be lacking, but now I'm relieved.
Housekeeper: Please get in the car first, I'll go to the counter to get a souvenir and come right back.
After saying that, he stepped over the corridor steps, leaving Gavin and me in the sun-drenched garden.
The fountain's water jets refracted rainbow colors in the sunlight, and several bees buzzed around the flowers.
Seeing the beautiful scenery and having nothing else to do, I simply took out the Polaroid camera that had "disappeared halfway," took a few steps forward, and shook it at Gavin.
Kasa: Since we're already here and have the chance, why not take a picture with the house to remember the occasion?
Gavin: Sure.
He put down his phone, which he was looking at for some message, and obediently stood next to me, bending down slightly.
However, when I pointed the camera at the estate behind me, the view through the viewing window was always disappointing—
Either the carved chimney is missing here, or the ivy on the exterior wall can't be accommodated there.
Kasa: It feels like the whole estate can't be captured in a single shot...
Gavin: Let's go to a higher place then.
After he finished speaking, his arm gathered behind my waist in a powerful arc, steadily lifting me into the air.
The wind ruffled his hair, and the sunlight not only gilded his entire appearance but also gave him a golden glow.
He was far more captivating to me than the well-arranged buildings at the foot of the mountain or the shimmering sea in the distance.
A sudden thought struck me, and I picked up my Polaroid camera to capture that moment forever.
Gavin: Weren't you supposed to be taking pictures of the scenery? Why are you taking pictures of me again?
Kasa: Because I love every single moment of you, I want to preserve every single one of them.
The wind whistled past my ears, and even though the person in front of me was backlit, I could still feel his burning gaze on my face.
Finally, he tightened his arms around me and buried his head in the side of my neck.
Gavin: Okay. Every moment you cherish belongs only to you.
After adjusting the angle, I gently leaned on his shoulder and took a group photo with the manor and garden behind us.
Kasa: Cheers--
With a soft click of the machine, the Polaroid camera in my hand slowly ejected the photograph.
Before the photo even took shape, a wave of dizziness suddenly washed over me.
Some vague memories, like a floodgate being opened, gradually surged vividly in my mind.
Gavin and I stood amidst a pile of bouncing pom-poms, our hands clasped tightly in surprise; then, at the urging of a bed sheet, we brandished our cleaning brushes...
The strange figures that once made me uneasy in my dreams gradually became quirky and endearing as I pieced together my memories.
I looked up at Gavin, and he was looking at me too, his eyes showing a rare look of surprise and confusion.
Before we could even sort out our thoughts, our two phones, which had been quiet just moments before, suddenly started ringing at the same time.
Dozens of unread messages flooded in, almost all of them sent within the last week.
But I haven't received a single message in the past few days...?
I pursed my lips in thought, when suddenly a gentle breeze swept around us. Gavin embraced me and decisively flew towards the foot of the mountain.
Kasa: ...Wait, our luggage is still down!
Gavin: We'll get it later; let's leave here now.
Gavin: ...This is not the summer resort that Xiao Zheng mentioned.
Kasa: What?
Gavin: I just saw the message he sent me a week ago, asking why I hadn't received the invitation voucher yet.
I was stunned for a moment.
Kasa: No signature? Then the experience voucher we used is...
Gavin's lips were pressed into a tight line, and his eyes seemed to be churning with countless thoughts.
Gavin: The effects of Evol in this area are more complex than I previously thought.
Gavin: The message that I asked them to investigate was not sent out.
Gavin: Let's go down the mountain first, and then I'll find someone to handle it.
Kasa: Okay, then... wait a minute, the butler is still in the manor!
Gavin gently shook his head, looking at the shadow of the manor, which had shrunk to a tiny dot.
Gavin: That "person" is probably a bit suspicious too.
Gavin: Judging from the content of the previous conversation, he should have noticed that something was amiss here.
Gavin: Perhaps he is also part of the mystery.
The butler's smile and his warm greeting slowly surfaced in my memory.
Housekeeper: Welcome, welcome! We've been waiting for you two distinguished guests for a long time!
I took a deep breath and belatedly looked at the photo in my hand.
In the fully developed photograph, the manor stands quietly in the sunlight. The open hall is empty and deserted, seemingly frozen in time.
In a daze, the message at the end of the experience voucher flashed into my mind.
"I believe this will be an experience you will never want to leave."
My comments
This story felt much more... physical than the others. It seemed like there just have to repetitively mention Gavin's muscles—whether MC was rolling up his sleeves or applying sunscreen to his back. I think he even had more kissing scenes than the others (yes, I counted lol). And there was plenty of bare skin too, so I guess Gavin fans won't be complaining. 😏
I loved those little spontaneous moments in the middle of the night, like making tiny pancakes with a toy cooking set or simply lying on the grass while watching the clouds and stars.
There was also quite a bit of "camera drama" throughout the story, with a mysterious dark figure occasionally appearing in the screen and MC's Polaroid camera got missing. But I really liked her attitude about it: "I'll just use my own eyes to remember everything."
I found Gavin's story noticeably creepier than the others. The pool filled with red water was pretty unsettling, and that final line still gives me chills! While the others more or less shrugged off the paranormal events by the end of their stories, Gavin was already planning to investigate the mystery further. I suppose that's just his detective instincts and professional background kicking in, but it also made the whole situation feel like there was something much more serious going on beneath the surface. Personally, I love suspense and horror vibes, so that only made me enjoy the story even more!
