Lucien's Mermaid Calls
This time I'm gonna share both of the phone calls that were unlocked from Lucien's Mermaid card! ...Yes, I know I'm a little late considering the event took place in spring. I admit I've been pretty lazy about translating phone calls nowadays, but that's not what happened this time. I actually translated these a long time ago, but the publication got delayed because the videos and text files ended up forgotten in the depths of my phone for quite a while. So you're probably not gonna see translated phone calls here very often, but of course, if I come across some interesting content, I'm gonna share it here! And I really like both of these! As always, our dear professor ends both calls in a cute way, so make sure to listen all the way to the end! <3
An Unexpected Encounter With a Mermaid / 偶遇人魚
Translation
Lucien: A girl said she was going to buy snacks, but she hasn't come back yet.
Lucien: Given that this aquarium is dimly lit and has many branching paths, it's indeed easy to get lost... Do you need help?
Kasa: Hehe, I didn't get lost, I just happened to come across something very interesting and observed it a little longer.
Kasa: I was just about to call you, and then you called!
Lucien: ...Your voice sounds a bit low; have you gone to some unusual place?
Kasa: It seems like nothing can be hidden from you.
Kasa: Actually, I saw a "little mermaid". She kept swimming along the tour path on the aquarium wall, appearing and disappearing intermittently.
Kasa: It seemed like no one noticed her, but out of curiosity, I followed her to a place where there were no tourists at all.
Lucien: You must have accidentally wandered into the place where the mermaid show is being rehearsed.
Lucien: According to the notice inside the venue, the performance should not start until the evening.
Lucien: However, the fact that you can freely enter and exit these areas suggests that the authorities don't mind such a small "leak".
Lucien: Perhaps being observant will earn you such a reward.
Kasa: Indeed, it does require some eye-catching skills.
Kasa: It's really amazing, the little fish in the water seem to understand her gestures.
Kasa: It seemed that no words were needed; the fish would spontaneously provide cover for her and move in the direction she pointed!
Lucien: It sounds more like a unique kind of "tacit understanding" training.
Lucien: Perhaps it was their long-term companionship that led them to develop a unique way of communicating.
Kasa: Wow!
Lucien: What's wrong?
Kasa: A little fish seems to have spotted me. I just turned my head and saw it was super close to me!
Kasa: It kept staring at me, and I started to get a little nervous...
Lucien: Hmm... to them, you might also be a "little mermaid" who has strayed into the deep sea.
Kasa: But I don’t have a tail?
Lucien: They probably don't distinguish themselves by outward appearance. At least to me, your very existence is enough to attract attention.
Kasa: What? Professor Lucien's level of sweet talk has improved again.
Lucien: Should I express it in a different way?
Kasa: For example?
Lucien: For example—if you really became a mermaid, I would definitely dive into the deep sea without hesitation and come to your side.
Lucien: For example—if I accidentally turned into a mermaid, I would do everything I could to make you see me.
Lucien: Rather than words, I want to let you feel in a more intuitive way that I've always been attracted to you.
Realistic Romance / 現實浪漫
Translation
Lucien: I just saw the promotional images you sent me; it looks like an exhibition related to "The Little Mermaid"?
Lucien: Is it a book club or an illustration exhibition?
Kasa: No, not at all~ If it were that simple, I wouldn't have specifically invited you.
Kasa: This exhibition takes you on a "rereading" of "The Little Mermaid" from the perspectives of biology and natural history.
Kasa: For example, what types of fish and crabs might the Little Mermaid's friends be?
Kasa: What do mermaids eat in the sea? What are their daily routines like? And so on.
Lucien: It does sound interesting.
Lucien: We usually immerse ourselves in the world of stories, but this time, it seems like we've invited the story to visit the real world.
Kasa: Right? I knew you'd be interested!
Kasa: The exhibition will also explore the changes in the Little Mermaid after she came ashore! It seems very informative!
Lucien: The story only mentions that after she became human, "every step she took felt like walking on a knife's edge."
Lucien: But from a more realistic perspective, the first thing she needs to adapt to is the different gravity in water and on land.
Kasa: Pfft... It's a real shame the curator of this exhibition didn't invite you to be a consultant.
Lucien: But rather than being a consultant, I'd be a visitor with you and experience these interesting things together.
Kasa: What if I told you that I'm the curator of this exhibition?
Lucien: Is that so? Then I'll probably start by "complaining" a couple of times.
Kasa: "Complain"?
Lucien: I complain that you planned something meaningful all by yourself, but only told me about it at the very end.
Lucien: Then I'll check the exhibition information again to see what I really missed...
Lucien: Or perhaps she was simply amused by this cunning young lady.
Lucien: Now it seems that it should be the latter.
Kasa: Haha! Don't worry, I just wanted to invite you to an exhibition with me, like a date~
Lucien: But you have already wronged me – could you offer me some kind of compensation?
Kasa: Professor Lucien seems a bit unreasonable.
Kasa: Okay then, what kind of compensation do you want?
Lucien: Just give me your time tonight.
Lucien: Before heading to the exhibition, let's revisit the story from our own perspective.
